Abstract

The Taiwan Strait is often considered the most likely location for a military confrontation between the United States and China. Taiwan is not only located in an important geostrategic location; Rather, it acts as a reliable partner for Washington in the Indo-Pacific region. Over the past four decades, the United States has maintained well-established engagements and informal relations with Taiwan. But China's growing economic power, strengthening of its military capabilities, and increasing pressure on Taiwan pose major challenges to US security commitments to Taipei, which will increase the level of conflict between Washington and Beijing in Taiwan and intensify the security dilemma in the strait. became. Thus, the main question of the research is, what strategy does America follow to deal with China in Taiwan? The hypothesis of the article is that the rise of China's economic and military power in East Asia, in addition to the strategic threat to Taiwan from the strategic allies of the United States in the region, has changed the balance of military power in favor of Beijing. In this regard, with the aim of preventing Taiwan from being encircled by China and pushing this country back from the strait, Washington has turned to strengthening Taiwan's deterrence and selling weapons and military equipment to this country for self-defense, and in this regard, it is trying to By restraining and obfuscating Beijing in the strait, it will shape the balance of power in favor of Taipei and its regional allies, which will increase tensions and an arms race in East Asia, along with the dynamics of the security problem in the strait. Qualitative analysis method was used to analyze the research data.
