Investigating and analyzing the influence of geopolitical factors on the military relations between Iran and Pakistan

Abstract

Getting to know the geopolitical codes of neighboring countries has an effective role in adopting foreign policy and appropriate defense policy. In the meantime, knowing the geopolitical factors affecting the military relations with Pakistan is one of the important priorities of Iran's foreign and defense policy, which can create a platform for adopting appropriate strategies in line to secure the country's geopolitical interests.
The current research has been carried out with the aim of identifying the geopolitical factors affecting the military relations between Iran and Pakistan and identifying the most important dimensions and components affecting the relations between the two countries and determining the priority and importance of each of the components. According to the nature of the subject of the current research and the components examined in it, the method of conducting the current research is of a mixed type (qualitative-quantitative) and in terms of the purpose, the research method is descriptive-analytical in the qualitative part and analytical in the quantitative part. TOPSIS series were used.
This research includes important geopolitical factors including: geostrategic, geo-cultural, geo-economic and hydro-political factors along with 29 components in three main criteria: 1. Importance, 2. Positive contextualization 3. Intervention was used and examined, analyzed and ranked. Based on the obtained results, it was determined that geostrategic factors with an average score of 30 are in the first place, followed by geo-culture factors with an average score of 28 in the second place, and then geo-economic factors with an average score of 27.2 are in the third place. Finally, hydro-politic agents are in the fourth place with a score of 14.8.
