Abstract

The Middle East, due to the two components of energy and ideological issues, has always been the focus of tension, crisis, insecurity and war. The first component is an important factor for the influence, presence and extensive activity of international powers, and ideological issues such as fundamentalism, Zionism, Sunni Islam and Shiite resistance have been influential factors in intensifying insecurity issues. The totality of the aforementioned factors has confronted the Middle East region with the intensification and deepening of numerous tensions and has placed the countries of this region in a multilateral and sometimes complex situation in adopting and implementing political and geopolitical behaviors. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to analyze the behavioral geopolitics of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Middle East and during the years of Islamic post-war (after 2010). The main question of the present study is: "How can the behavioral geopolitics of the Islamic Republic in the Middle East region be analyzed in the context of Islamic post-war?" The hypothesis of the present study implies that the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken political and geopolitical actions towards the focal points of the Middle East based on the level or coefficient of importance it has assigned to them. The findings of the study, based on the descriptive-analytical method and using the behavioral model of "Robert William McColl", showed that the geopolitical behavior of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the movements of terrorist groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, the claims of the United Arab Emirates towards the three Iranian islands, as well as the insecurity on the eastern borders of the country, were placed under war zones, towards Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, occupied Palestine and Yemen under sensitive areas, and towards Bahrain, Afghanistan and Egypt under areas of retreat.
