India's Foreign Policy Towards the Ukraine War: Balancing or Pragmatism

Abstract
The Ukrainian crisis is considered one of the most sensitive issues of the current international era. Therefore, the type of strategy of each of the influential countries in the current world order in response to this issue is very important. Paying attention to the reaction of governments to different political events will be a good solution for clarifying the central policies of governments. Accordingly, the orientation of India's foreign policy towards the Ukrainian crisis provides the ability to understand the general orientation of New Delhi in the international arena, especially towards countries such as the United States and Russia. Considering this issue, this article seeks to answer the question of which of the concepts of balancing or pragmatism can India's foreign policy towards the war in Ukraine be interpreted? To answer it, using a descriptive-analytical method, three topics have been examined: a) India-US relations, b) China as an issue, and c) India-Russia relations. The findings of the article show that the use of a pragmatic approach to the Ukrainian crisis is one of the main features of New Delhi's foreign policy approach.
