Investigating the Role of Organizations in Supporting Human Rights in Islamic Societies (Case Study: Egyptian Public Prosecutor’s Office)

Abstract
The issue of human rights has been one of the most important and challenging topics discussed in recent decades. This issue is of great importance, especially for many Islamic countries due to their accusations of human rights violations by international institutions and organizations. On the other hand, specific organizations and institutions were formed in many societies in order to realize and protect human rights, each of which has addressed this issue based on specific approaches. Accordingly, the aim of the present study is to examine the role of human rights organizations in Islamic societies, with an emphasis on Egypt. The main question of the present study is: “What are the most important organizations or organizations in Egypt that are responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating human rights?” The findings of the study, using a descriptive-analytical method and reviewing legal-political documents, showed that the Egyptian Public Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for investigating, prosecuting crimes, and monitoring the implementation of human rights. In fact, the Egyptian Public Prosecutor's Office has played a positive role in the realization of human rights in this country by monitoring arrests and guaranteeing the right to defense of the accused. However, limitations such as the lack of full judicial independence, political pressures, and violations of some fundamental rights of the accused and convicted have affected the effectiveness of this institution. In order to improve the performance of the Public Prosecutor's Office in protecting human rights, reforms such as increasing judicial independence, strengthening the supervision of detention centers, improving transparency in criminal investigation and prosecution processes, and stricter observance of fair trial standards seem necessary.
