Abstract
American media coverage of the 2023 Gaza War, especially in political, social, and humanitarian contexts, had a significant impact on shaping public attitudes toward the crisis. This research, using the theoretical framework of dysfunctional equilibrium and the critical discourse analysis method using library studies, examines the role of American media in representing the Zionist-Palestinian conflict. From this perspective, the main question of the present article is to what extent and in what ways, Do discursive patterns in the US mainstream media reproduce dysfunctional balances and perpetuate structural inequalities in the representation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? According to the hypothesis put forward, the US mainstream media, through the use of biased discursive patterns, eliminate the structural contexts of the conflict, The reduction of Palestinian narratives and selective reliance on official Israeli sources play an effective role in reproducing the unequal situation and maintaining the dysfunctional balance in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The findings show that news coverage has distorted the information balance by eliminating the structural context of the conflict, legitimizing the actions of the Zionist regime, and eliminating the Palestinian narrative, distorting public perception and weakening the possibility of lasting peace. Therefore, it is necessary to review the methods of reporting international crises and emphasize the need to promote media neutrality as a prerequisite for achieving justice.
